BANDARBAN: Two workers were killed and five others injured as a jeep turned turtle in Okongjhiri area under Ruma upazila of the district on Monday noon.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The injured--M Shahjahan, 30, a contractor, M Helal, 28, M Abdullah, 29, Mizanur Rahman, 18, Hannan Mia, 25, hailed from Sadar upazila of Bandarban—were rushed to Ruma Upazila Health Complex.

Witnesses said the Ruma-bound jeep, carrying some workers with construction materials, turned turtle and plunged into deep ditch in the area at 1:30pm, leaving two dead on the spot and five others injured.

Later, the injured were shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as their physical condition deteriorated, said Ruma Upazila Health Complex Dr Bamong Pru.

The bodies were also sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
