DHAKA: State-run Petrobangla became first government organization to publish a special supplement online on banglanews24.com.bd’s portal.

The organization Monday published the supplement to mark the National Energy Safety Day.
    
Finance Minister AMA Muhith inaugurated the online supplement by clicking the website of banglanews24.com.bd at a seminar organized at its Karwan Bazar office.

The Minister was appraised the initiatives taken by Petrobangla following the inaugural ceremony.

Petrobangla observed August 9 as `National Energy Safety Day` to commemorate the day when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s had bought five gas fields from multinational companies in 1975 at a cheap cost.

Prof Dr Hossain Mansur, Chairman of Petrobangla, said, “The supplement was published online with an aim to moving forward the government’s pledge to build up a Digital Bangladesh.”

He said the foreign investment was more than the domestic investment in the energy sector of the country.

So, the authorities concerned should emphasize the online publication, which has a far-reaching impact, he said.
