DHAKA: The government has banned motorcyclists from carrying pillions until further notice with a view to preventing arson and sabotage activities amid political unrest across the country.

Road Transport and Highways Division issued an order in this regard on Thursday afternoon.

It said, “Miscreants have been conducting sabotage and violence through bomb blast and other means using motorcycles.”

The government, as per Motor Vehicles Ordnance 1983, has banned carrying pillions to put a stop to bomb blast and violence in ensuring public security until further notice.
