GAZIPUR: Three passengers were killed and 10 others went missing after two trawlers collided off the estuary of Brahmaputra and Sitalakkya rivers in Sreepur upazila of the district Friday noon.

The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahim, 30, master of a trawler, hailed from Pagla Thana of Mymensingh, passenger Rahima Khatun, 42, of the same thana, and Sabekunnahar, 7, daughter of Ashraful Islam, resident of Sreepur.

Local sources said a Kapasia-bound trawler collided head on with another in the mid River at 1:00pm, leaving the trio dead and 10 others missing.

The locals are trying to rescue the missing people.

On information, Police rushed to the spot. Two people are known dead in the collision, said Mohsinul Kader, Officer-in-Charge of Sreepur Thana.
