GOPALGANJ: The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate Patgati Bridge on the Madhumati River in Tungipara of the district on Saturday afternoon through a video conference.

Gopalganj Deputy Comissioner Mohammad Khalilur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews on Friday.

He said that they are taking preparations regarding the inauguration.

The vehicles will start plying immediately after the inauguration of the bridge that will facilitate road communication among the people of Pirojpur, Bagerhat, Jhalokati, Barguna and Gopalganj districts, he added.

The construction work of 391.491-meter long Patgati Bridge was successfully completed on December 31 of 2014 in expenditure of Tk 72.65-crore.

Local people expressed their happiness after the completion of the construction work of the bridge that would mitigate the sufferings of the people.

A freedom fighter of Tungipara upazila Sirajul Haque Panna said the bridge was a blessing for the people of the area as it would help in trading goods and vegetables of the area.

Gopalganj Road and Transport Executive Engineer Samiran Roy said that the Bridge will open the door of socio-economic development of the local people.
