Schoolteacher shot dead in Kushtia

KUSHTIA:  Miscreants shot a schoolteacher to death over a business-related dispute at Doyarampur village under Kumarkhali upazila of the district early Saturday.

Police also detained Wahidul Islam, a business partner of Robiul in the brickfield on suspicion.

The victim was identified as Robiul Islam, 48, headmaster of Mahendrapur Government Primary School of the upazila, also owner of MMR Bricks Kiln.

Kumarkhali Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Lutfar Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Lutfar said Rabiul was returning home from the brick kiln riding a motorcycle. Miscreants, who loitered near Robiul’s home, shot him on the doorstep of his home around 1:30am.

Robiul sustained bullet-injuries on his chest and earlobe. Locals rushed him to the Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Rabiul might have been killed following a dispute over the brickfield, Lutfar added.

The OC went on saying that, meanwhile, police nabbed Wahidul at the night for alleged involvement in the killing.

Drive was underway to hunt the killers, added the OC.
