DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her visit and intent to share her grief at son Koko’s death.

Khaleda’s press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel, while quoting her as saying after waking up from ‘sleeping’ on Saturday night, said that she was on medicines as per the advice of her physician.

“Still, she is mentally upset,” he told the reporters in front of chairperson’s Gulshan office in the city.

Mentioning as Khaleda fell sick on hearing her son’s death in the afternoon she was given some sedatives following doctor’s advice, he added that this matter is not a political issue.

“It is a fact of mankind,” he described. “Please do not add political flavor in it.”

BNP chairperson’s press secretary, at that time, also pleaded the PM to come again later.

Earlier in May 2009, Khaleda Zia, then Leader of the Opposition in parliament, rushed to Sudha Sadan in the capital to stand beside Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and convey her condolence on the death of Dr MA Wazed Miah, husband of Hasina.
