DHAKA: Members of joint forces, in a nightlong special drive, detained nine people on suspicion of vandalism in the city.
Deputy Commissioner of Police of Wari division Mostaq Ahmmed confirmed the matter Sunday morning.
He said that the joint forces from Saturday midnight conducted a special drive in the city to detect the people, who were involved in vandalism.
They nabbed nine persons, six from Jatrabari, two from Kadamtali and one from Demra areas during the drives.
Identities of the detainees were not disclosed as they were being interrogated.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the drives aimed to detect the people who were involved in the arson attack on a passenger bus in Jatrabari.
However, 29 people have sustained burn injuries in the petrol bomb attack on January 23.
All the victims are admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Nine of them are in critical conditions, said burn unit project director Shyamanta Lal Sen.
