DHAKA: Two persons including an Ijtema devotee, who was burnt as miscreants carried out arson attacks in Dinajpur and Sylhet, succumbed to their injuries on Monday and Tuesday.
Banglanews Staff Correspondent reports: A truck driver succumbed to his burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Bakul Debnath, 35, son of Ratan Maninath of Goala Bazar area of Osmani Nagar in Sylhet.
Family sources said miscreants threw petrol bombs at a running truck on Baker road in Gainghat upazila of Sylhet, leaving its driver and helper burnt.
Seriously injured Bakul was taken to DMCH where he breathed his after battling seven days for life.
Banglanews District Correspondent in Nilphamari reports: A man died in Rangpur Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) on Monday noon after battling six days for life.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Malek, 55, a jewelry trader, of Sohdeb Borogasa Baniapara village under Sadar upazila of Nilphamari district.
Dr. Maruful Islam, head of Burn and Plastic Surgery department at RMCH, confirmed the death to banglanews.
Family sources said miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a running truck in Vad-gan bridge area under Kaharol area of Dinajpur district on January 21, leaving Malek and the truck driver severely burn-injured.
They were taken to Dinajpu Medical College and Hospital at first and later shifted to RMCH for better treatment.
Malek become victim of the arson attack while he was on his way home from the second phase of Bishwa Ijtema in the city.
He will be buried at the family graveyard on Tuesday afternoon, according to the sources.
