DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh has greeted Alexis Tsipras on the victory of the Syriza Party in the parliamentary elections of Greece.

The premier, also ruling Awami League president, wrote a letter to Alexis Tsipras, president of Syriza Party of Greece, on Tuesday.

She said, “On behalf of the Government and the people of Bangladesh and on my own behalf, I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations and warmest felicitations to you on the victory of the SYRIZA party in the parliamentary elections of Greece.”

Sheikh Hasina added: “The election result manifests the clear and strong mandate of the Greek people in favour of your pro-people and pragmatic policies. I am confident that your dynamic leadership would achieve the desired goals for the people of your great country.”

“I firmly believe that during your tenure the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Greece would further widen and deepen,” she said.

She also wished peace and good-health, and continued prosperity of the people of the Hellenic Republic.
