CHANDPUR: Blockaders hurled petrol bombs at a running truck in Ghosherhat area of the district that led its helper to be crushed under the wheels of the truck while trying to escape the fire.

Identity of the deceased could not be known.

Locals and witnesses said that a tiles-laden truck was coming from Narayanganj. On arrival in the area, blockaders threw petrol bombs on it. Subsequently, the entire truck was caught by fire.

Truck driver somewhat managed to escape the fire but his helper jumped off the running vehicle as he was severely burnt. He then was crushed under backside wheels of the truck, leaving him dead on the spot.

Upper parts of his body were found burnt in the fire, said a spot account.

Sadar Model Thana Sub-Inspector Abu Sayed confirmed the matter to banglanews.
