DHAKA: Sixteen people were killed in road accidents in Mymensingh, Jhenaidah, Munshiganj, Narayanganj and Sylhet districts of the country on Friday.

In Mymensingh, three people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Raghabpur area under Sadar Thana as a passenger bus knocked a CNG-run auto-rickshaw around 7:00pm.

Kotowali Model Thana Officer-in-Charge Fazlul Karim confirmed the matter to banglanews.

In Jhenaidah, four people were killed and four others injured as a truck knocked a human hauler in Dudhsar area under Shailkupa upazila around 6:30am.

The deceased were identified as Safiuddin Safi, 35, son of one Abdul Gafur Bishwas, Mojibar Rahman, 37, son of one Roushan Ali, and Riazul Islam, 40, son of a Abdur Razzak, of Kanarpukur village of Shailkupa upzila and Aminul Islam, son of one Yusuf Ali of Charpara village under Harinakundu upazila of the district.

Confirming the matter, Shailkupa Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Hashem Khan told banglanews that on information, police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

In Munshiganj, four people, including a child, were killed and five others injured as a goods-laden truck turned turtle and rammed three CNG-run auto-rickshaws on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Gazaria upazila around 7:00pm.

Bhaberchar highway police sergeant Saiful Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

In Narayanganj, three people, including father and 7-year old daughter, were killed in a road accident in Fatullah’s Bhuinagar area of the sadar upazila around 7:00pm.

Two of the deceased were identified as Oliuddin, 37, and his daughter Sumaiya, 7. They lived in Eskaton area of Dhaka.

Quoting witnesses, sub-inspector Swapan Kumar Das of Fatullah Model Thana said a speedy Dhaka-bound truck knocked a battery-run auto-rickshaw in the area around 7:00pm, leaving Oliuddin, Sumaiya, her mother and auto-rickshaw driver severely injured.

In Sylhet, two motorcyclists were killed as a truck knocked the motorcycle around 4:30pm on Biswanathpur-Jagannathpur road in Bagichabazar area under Biswanath upazila of the district Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Noman Ahmed, 16, son of one Motsin Ali and Khaled Ahmed, 15, son of one Tajul Islam, residents of the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Biswanath Thana Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
