LAXMIPUR: A driver was killed when suspected blockaders hurled bomb at a passenger bus in Mandari area on Laxmipur-Begaumganj highway Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Sumon, 34, hailed from Begumganj upazila of Noakhali. 

The Chittagong-bound bus came under bomb attack carried out by miscreants at 10.00pm. Luckily, passengers of the bus escaped narrowly as the bomb did not explode. 

But the driver received serious head injury after being hit by shards of glass broken in the bomb attack. 

He was rushed to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital and later doctor referred him to Noakhali Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. 

He succumbed to his injuries on way to Noakhali around 11:30pm.
