BENAPOLE (JESSORE): Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 30 men and women while they were trying to enter India illegally through Putkhali frontier area in Benapole of the district.

The detainees, who were held in the drives conducted from 4:00am to 10:00am on Sunday, hailed from Jessore, Khulna, Narail, Bagerhat and Satkhira districts.

Police said that some 30 men and women were trying to cross the border illegally with the help of agents. Acting on a tip-off, BGB members conducted the drive and nabbed them.

BGB, later, handed over the detainees to the police. A case on illegal passing was filed against them.

However, BGB nabbed 28 men and women from Benapole border area on Saturday.

Benapole Land Port Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Apurba Hasan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
