Passenger held with 2kg gold at Shahjalal

DHAKA: Customs officials detained a passenger with two kilograms gold worth about Tk 1 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday morning.

The detainee is Mintu, 36, hails from Comilla.

Airport customs joint-commissioner Kazi Mohammad Ziauddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Ziauddin said that Mintu landed at the airport by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur.

Officials suspected him when he was crossing the airport’s green channel. Two kilograms of gold was found that was melted inside a rice cooker, he added.

Official seized the gold worth about Tk 1 crore and nabbed him.

Mintu was handed over to Airport Thana police, added the commissioner.
