DHAKA: A total of 234 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed across the country on Thursday - the last day of the 120-hour hartal enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance, coupled with nationwide blockade.
BGB Headquarters’ public relations officer Mohammad Mohsin Reza confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Mohsin said that some six platoons of BGB personnel have been deployed in Dhaka since the dawn and they will remain posted till 6:00pm.
Besides, 228 platoons BGB-men have been deployed outside the capital. They have been deployed at 6:00am and will patrol till 6:00am Friday.
Of which, 118 platoons will escort the running vehicles on the highways and 110 platoons will provide security at different places to prevent sabotages and keep the law and order situations under control.
An additional 72 platoons BGB members have been kept standby for emergency deployment across the country, Mohsin added.
