AL man hacked dead in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA: An activist of Juba League, youth wing of Awami League, was hacked to death by miscreants in Sapmara village in Gobindaganj Upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Hamid Khan Hero, 38, former general secretary of Gobindaganj Degree College, and son of Hafizar Rahman of Coucha Krishnapur village.

Being informed from locals, police recovered the body from a field at the village around 9:30am.

Confirming the matter, Gobindaganj Thana officer-in-charge ABM Jahidul Islam told banglanews that villagers spotted Hero’s body lying on the field this morning and informed police.

Later, police sent the body to Gaibandha Adhunik Hospital morgue.

The OC said the body bore several injury marks of sharp weapons. Police suspect that miscreants hacked him to death and left the body at the field. But the motive behind the killing and killers could not be traced immediately, he added.
