DHAKA: The Canadian High Commission (HC) in Dhaka arranged a Rickshaw Rally in the city’s Baridhara area on Friday to raise funds for acid survivors and child cancer.
The rally was held in front of the HC in the area at 8:00am, followed by a parade on the road stretching from the Canadian HC to the Indian HC there.
Family members of the Canadian HC’s officials and employees participated in the rally. Along with the Canadians, citizens from Australia and United States of America were also seen there.
Rally coordinator Charles Leslie of Canadian High Commission Recreation Centre (CHCRC) told banglanews that different companies sponsor for the rally, and the money is spent to assist acid survivors and cancer-attacked children.
However, this year’s event coincidentally had fallen on the first day of Bengali Spring session.
A total of 24 teams took part in the rally and each team was consisted with four members, added the coordinator.
The HC took such kinds of initiatives for the third times.
