DHAKA: Two people were reportedly hurt as a cocktail was blasted at a program of token hunger-strike organized by readymade garments (RMG) owners and businesspeople on Saturday.
Members of police, Ansar and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed in the area to avert any untoward situation.
The RMG businesspeople are attending the protest program in front of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Bhaban in city’s Karwan Bazar area.
The program, started around 11:15am, is set to continue till evening.
BGMEA president Atiqul Islam, DCCI president Asif Ibrahim and former FBCCI president AK Azad have among others attended the protest program.
Moreover, lawmaker and also actor Tarana Halim and singer Fakir Alamgir expressed their solidarity with rally against country’s ongoing indefinite blockade along with hartal, sponsored by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Earlier on Wednesday, people involved in business of garments and textile sectors declared the protest program.
