DHAKA: A woman allegedly strangled her 2-year-old baby girl to death at Suhrawardi Udyan in the capital Saturday noon.

The deceased was identified as Sharmin.

Sources told banglanews that as the mother, Shahida, who got second married to man four days ago, was missing since the child’s body found from a pipe.

Locals suspected that she might have killed the baby.

Shahbagh Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Sohel Rana said police held the man who married Shahida last Tuesday.

He added that the man claimed that he did not know about the killing.
