Man killed over rivalry in Magura

MAGURA: A man was killed and five others were injured during rivalry clash in Bhatra village under Mohammadpur upazila on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Azad Sheikh, 35, son of Mazed Sheikh of Palla village.

Police said recently there was a scuffle between the groups of Bhatra and Palla villages over watching a program in Nagaripara Madrasha of the upazila.

On Saturday evening, Ali Ahmed and his men of Bhatra village chased Azad and his friends of Pallah village in the area while they were returning home around 7:00pm.

At one stage, they locked into a clash and the opponent chopped Azad indiscriminately that left his severely injured.

Other five people of the both group also injured during the clash, police added.

Locals rushed him to the Mahammadpur Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries around 8:45pm.

Medical officer Dr Moksedul Momin Azad of the health complex confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Atiar Rahman of Mohammadpur Thana told banglanews that police rushed to the spot and also investigating into the matter.
