DHAKA: A female student of Kabi Nazrul Government College was severely hurt as a group of blockaders blasted a cocktail from their procession in front of the college in older section of Dhaka on Sunday noon.

The victim, identified as Sharmin Sultana (19), was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Moreover, police detained Jagannath University unit Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal joint secretary Mamun following the incident.

The victim’s mother Lima Begum said that her daughter Sharmin, a first year student of accounting in Kabi Nazrul, went to the college to know about her classes.

Just after riding down from a rickshaw, Sharmin saw a procession and suddenly fell victim of a blast, she added.

DMCH emergency department residential surgeon Riaz Morshed said that the victim has received severe injuries and they are providing her medical treatment.
