Probe body for Padma launch capsize

DHAKA: A three-member committee has been formed to look into the accident of MV Mostafa, which left so far 33 dead and about 100 missing after being capsized in river Padma Sunday noon.

Sources said the shipping department formed the prove body led by its nautical surveyor captain M Shahjahan.

The other members of the committee are the department’s special officer (marine safety) Golam Mainuddin Hasan and chief inspector of shipping department Shafiqur Rahman.

Shipping Ministry Public Relations Officer (PRO) Jahangir Alam Khan said that the committee has been asked to submit its report to the authorities concerned within next 15 working days.

However, at least 33 bodies were recovered till Sunday evening from the spot after MV Mustafa capsized earlier in the noon on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the river Padma with over 150 passengers aboard.
