DHAKA: A housewife allegedly committed suicide by taking poison over family feud in Tejgaon area of the city on Sunday evening.

The deceased was identified as Poly Akhter, 25, wife of Shah Ali of the area.

Poly’s in-laws claimed that she has committed suicide as she had a long standing dispute with her husband.

Poly’s mother-in-law Amena Begum said that her son and his wife locked into an altercation on Saturday night. Following the incident Shah Ali beat Poly up, she added.

Later on Sunday evening, she took poison.

However, she was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition where on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Police detained Poly’s husband Shah Ali in this connection.
