Woman chopped dead in city

DHAKA: Some miscreants chopped a woman to death in Uttar Khan area of the capital early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Sheuli Rahman, 34, daughter of Amin Uddin, resident of Maynartek of the area.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Asaduzzaman of Uttar Khan Thana confirmed the matter to banglanews at noon.

Quoting locals, the SI said after receiving a call, Sheuli came out from her residence at night and later, locals found her hacked body.

Deceased’s relatives claimed that she might have been killed over money, police added.

The SI said the body was taken to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Morgue for autopsy.

He said the body bore several injury marks.

Police detained two people Taj Rahman, 30 and Shahan Shah, 32 for investigation, the SI added.

However, no case was filed in this connection.
