DHAKA: Visiting Indian Navy chief Admiral RK Dhowan made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her parliament office Monday evening.
During the meting, they talked about bilateral relations between Bangladesh Navy and Indian Navy.
Prime Minister’s Press Secretary AKM Shamim Chowdhury confirmed the matter to banglanews.
The visiting Navy chief appreciated the steps that the premier adopted for the construction of a deep sea port in Bangladesh and transforming Bangladesh Navy into a three dimensional force.
Admiral RK Dhowan also said that the present relations between the two countries’ naval force are much closer and friendlier than ever before and this needs to be maintained for the continuous development.
Sheikh Hasina recalled the contribution of Indian Navy during the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
The Indian Navy chief also appreciated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s concept of “Blue Economy” to utilize the oil, gas and marine resources.
