1 killed, 5 burnt in petrol bomb attack

DHAKA: A man was killed and five others sustained burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack on a running pick-up van on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Tarab municipality in Rupganj Upazila late on Friday.

The deceased was identified as M Kabir Sheikh, 40, hailed from Bikrampur of Munshiganj. 

Deceased’s brother-in-law Kamruzzman told banglanews that the arson attack took place around 10:15pm when the Pick-up van carrying Kabir and other workers was heading for Dhaka’s Dholaipar Iron Market.

Kabir received severe head injuries while jumping out of the pick-up van immediately after some blockaders set it afire. Later, he succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 3:45am Saturday, Kamruzzman added.

Five burn injured --- Rashed, 27, with 12 percent burns, M Helal, 27, with 30 percent burns,  Abdus Salam, 28, Belal Hossian, 26, Sohel, 25,--were admitted at burn unit of DMCH.
