1 lakh pieces yaba recovered in Teknaf, 1 held

COX’S BAZAR: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) held a Myanmar citizen and recovered about one lakh pieces of yaba tablets in separate drives in Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday morning.

BGB said that on information, they conducted a drive in Naityangpara on the bank of river Naf and nabbed one with 10,000 pieces of yaba tablets.

The detainee is identified as Sirajul Islam, son of late Hosen Ahmed of Myanmar’s city of Mongdu.

In another drive, BGB personnel recovered 90,000 pieces of yaba and seized a boat on the river near Chowdhurypara.

BGB 42 Battalion commander Lt Col Abu Jaar Al Zahid said that the detainee has been handed over to the police and cases on narcotics and intrusion will be filed against him.

The recovered yabas will be destroyed later, he added.
