Petrol bombs burn 17 in 3 dists

DHAKA: A total of 17 people sustained burn injuries in three separate incidents of petrol bomb attacks on vehicles in Kishoreganj, Chapainawabganj and Chittagong on Wednesday night.

All three firebombing incidents took place amid ongoing nationwide shutdown and blockade, sponsored by BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party)-led 20-party alliance. 

Banglanews District Correspondent in Kishoreganj reports: 12 people including three women were burnt when miscreants set a passenger bus on fire in Sultanpur area under Sadar upazila at night.

The arson attack took place when the Sylhet-bound passenger bus of Shah Sultan Paribahan arrived in the area at 11:00am.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, district Fire Service and Civil Defense station Pran Nath Saha said that being informed, two fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame.

The injured were admitted to the district Sadar Hospital.

District superintendent of police (SP) M Anwar Hossain visited the spot. He told banglanews that none has been arrested yet in this connection.

Police were hunting the culprits who carried out the arson attack, the SP added.

Banglanews District Correspondent in Chapainawabganj adds: three people sustained burns after miscreants hurled petrol bombs at potato laden-truck in Nimtala Kathal area under Gomostapur upazila of the district around 11:30pm.

The injured were immediately taken to the Upazila health Complex and later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.

Gomostapur Thana Officer-In-Charge confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Banglanews Senior Correspondent from Chittagong Bureau reports: two people were injured when miscreant hurled petrol bomb at a CNG-run auto rickshaw in Taria area of Hathazari upzaila of Chittagong around 10:00pm.

The injured admitted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).

Nayek Hamid of CMCH police outpost confirmed the matter to banglanews.
