FENI: A bus ran over the leader of local unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Lalpur area of the district Thursday noon.

The diseased, identified as Arafat Hossian (25), was a student of BBS final year in Feni Government College and a son of Abul Hossain in Silonia village.

He was joint-secretary of BCL Kalidaha union.

Immediately after the accident, agitated people vandalized at least 15 vehicles on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in protesting the death.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Feni Highway Police in-charge Saled Ahmed said that a Noakhali-bound passenger bus rammed into Arafat who was crossing the highway to his college.

However, after coming to know the news of Arafat’s death, agitated students and locals blocked the highway and vandalized at least 15 vehicles.

On information, police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members rushed to the spot and controlled the situation, he added.
