PM expects Khaleda to surrender

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday expected that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia would surrender before the court as an arrest warrant had been issued against her.

Urging the BNP chief to surrender before court, the premier said, “I hope that she (Khaleda Zia) will abide by the law and surrender before court gently.”

If she did not abide by anything, people of the country would not spare her, PM warned Khaleda Zia.

The PM came up with the assertion while distributing financial assistance among the affected people during hartal-blockade at Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the capital.

She handed over cheques for Tk 54,208,000 to 236 victims of ongoing hartal, blockade and arson attacks sponsored by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

Criticizing the BNP chief, the PM said, “She (Khaleda) does not abide by court and law. The date of hearing related to her graft cases was fixed for 67 times. But she does not appear before the court.”

"She undermined the court bringing her cadres who assaulted our lawmaker and torched his vehicle near the court," Sheikh Hasina added.
