KHAGRACHHARI: A 70-year-old former school teacher was slaughtered and his 60-year-old wife injured by miscreant in Kalopahar area under Mohalchhari upazila early Thursday.

The victim was identified as Milon Bikash Chakma, ex-teacher of Ninmo Kangalchari Government Primary School in Naniarchar upazila.

Wife Niralata Chakma said hearing the groaning of Milon, she woke up and saw that a miscreant was slaughtering Milon. 

He also hit Niralata as she tried to scream and fled the house around 2:00am, she added.

Being informed, locals whisked off Niralata to the Khagrachari Sadar Hospital.

Officer-in-charge (OC) Semayun Kabir of Mohanchhari Thana said police recovered the body of Milon and sent it to the hospital for autopsy.

Victim’s son filed a case against unknown suspect with Mohanchhari Thana.

Police are looking into the matter, the OC said.
