DHAKA: The Bangladesh embassy in Tripoli sought Red Crescent support to rescue its two nationals, who were taken hostage by the Islamic State (IS) militants.
Sources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that ASM Ashraful Islam, counselor (Labour Wing) at the embassy, personally met the local RC officials in Tripol and sought their assistance to rescue abductees.
Earlier nine people including two Bangladeshi nationals were taken hostage by the IS militants from Al Ghani Oil Field in Libya on Friday.
The Bangladeshi are Helal Uddin, Passport No.: B0156553, of Jamalpur and Mohammad Anowar Hossain Passport No.: AE 3630754 of Noakhali district.
The militants invaded the oil field south of the Libyan city of Sirte on Friday, killing eleven guards, beheading some of those before local forces fought back to retake control.
