SIRAJGANJ: At least three people, including a six-year old minor, were killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck at Ghurka Kalitala under Salanga upazila of the district Monday afternoon.

Of the deceased, one was identified as Hamida Khatun, 50, wife of one Naher Ali, hailed from Baraibari under Gangachara upazila of Rangpur district.

Quoting local people, Hatikumrul Highway Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) B M Imdadul Haque told banglanews that a Bogra-bound passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch after a head-in collision with a truck in the area around 2:45pm, leaving three people dead on the spot.

The injured were admitted to local hospitals and clinics, he added.

“We have seized the truck but the driver and helper managed to flee the spot,” he added.

He also said they were processing to file a law suit in this regard.
