DHAKA: A Dhaka City Corporation official shot himself dead with his own licensed pistol at Banani in the capital on Monday morning for reasons not known yet.

The deceased, Shahidur Rahman, 45, was terminal manager of DCC and resident of Banani area.

Gulshan thana SI Mukul said Shahid fired into his head from his licensed pistol at his staff-quarter residence around 9am in his “attempt to commit suicide”.

He was rushed to the city’s United Hospital at Gulshan in critical condition where he died at 11:30 am.
