DHAKA: Armed Police Battalion (APBn) menbers detained a man with gold jewelry and sheets, weighing about 800 grams, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday.

The detainee, MA Malek, 45, hailed from Shariatpur district, arrived at the airport by the Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight (BG-087) from Malaysia this morning, said Tanzina Akter, assistant commissioner of APbn.

Tanzina told banglanews that following his suspicious movement, APBn intelligence members challenged the man while he was leaving the airport terminal through gate no. 2.

Police, however, searched his body and shoes and recovered the gold jewelry and sheets and detained him.

The man is being interrogated and legal action would be taken against him, Tanzina added.
