BRAHMANBARIA: A devastating fire at Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited has closed two power generation units Friday afternoon.

While the fire that started around 3:00pm at the thermal power plant has been brought under control at 4:45pm, the two power generation units are yet to start production, said sources concerned.

Director (Technical) Sazzadul Rahman of Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited said the fire originated from the transformer’s fault and two units at the plant, GT-2 and GT-3, have taken offline.

Later, Ashuganj Fire Service and company’s fire extinguishing system brought the fire under control with more than one hour’s hectic efforts.

Ashuganj Fire Service deputy assistant director Mozibur Rahman Chowdhury confirmed the matter to banglanews.
