5 killed in M’singh road crash

MYMENSINGH: Five people were killed and another injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Muktagachha Upazila of the district on Saturday morning.

Three of the deceased were identified as Alal Uddin, 50, Samir Talukdar, 35, and Akbar Ali, 32, while identity of the injured could not be known.

Kamal Hossian, Officer-in-Charge of Muktagachha Thana, confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Witnesses said a Jamalpur-bound goods-laden truck crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from opposite direction at Batkira intersection on Mymensingh-Tangail highway at 6:30am, leaving three people dead on the spot and three others injured.

The injured were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital (MMCH). Two of them succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.

MMCH emergency unit stuff Helal Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Meanwhile, police took two bodies to Muktagachha Thana and another body to Muktagachha Health Complex.
