DHAKA: United States Congresswomen Grace Meng has won a seat on the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific.
The subcommittee oversees United States’ foreign policy towards all countries in Asia including India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Meng said: “I am honored to have been awarded a spot on such an important subcommittee, especially at an important time for Asia.”
“So much of what takes place on the continent is critical to my constituents, and I look forward to strengthening America’s foreign policy in this vital part of the world,” added the Democratic member of the US House of Representatives, who represents New York's 6th congressional district in the House.
Meng will also continue to sit on the Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, the panel she served on during her first term in the House.
She received the second subcommittee assignment in her second term due to her increasing in seniority in Congress.
In addition to the foreign affairs panels, Meng will also remain as a member of the House Small Business Committee.
Meng represents Queens Borough, 6th congressional district of New York, where large populations of Bangladeshi and Chinese descent live in.
