NETROKONA: A group of miscreants chopped an honors student of Netrokona Government College to death in Netrokona on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Rubel Khan (22), student of 3rd year in accounting department of the college and son of Joj Mia of Bahir Chapra in Netrokona municipality area of the district.

Locals and police sources said that some people brought him out of the house by calling in the victim’s cell phone on Friday midnight.

Later, his blood-stained body was found in Netrokona Court Station platform on Saturday morning.

After recovering the body, locals and relatives rushed him to Netrokona Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Netrokona Model Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Masudul Alam told banglanews that several injury marks by sharp-edged weapon were found around his head.

Police are looking into the matter, he added.
