MUNSIGANJ: Roads and bridges minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the main works of piling installation for the Padma Bridge at the Mawa end in October.
The minister disclosed the matter while visiting the construction works of the Padma Bridge Project in Mawa area under Louhajanj Upazila of the district at noon.
Obaidul said the premier will also unveil the river management works on the same day.
At present, different works of the bridge construction, including test piling works and river dredging, are underway, he added.
Obaidul went on saying that the activities of the large-scale construction projects are visible on the both sides of the River Padma.
Construction of the Bridge will be completed within 2017, hoped the minister.
Higher officials of the ministry, Padma Bridge Project, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) and local administration accompanied the minister there.
