DHAKA: Two people were killed and two others injured when a compressor at Evergreen Textile Factory exploded in Par House area of Shyampur under Kadamtali Thana of the city Friday night.

The deceased were identified as Delwar Hossain, 40, M Sohag, 35, who were repairing the faulty compressor while the injured are Zillur Rahman, 30 and M, Musa, 25, workers at the factory.

Another worker of the factory Mumun told banglanews that the compressor blasted while the two mechanics were repairing the faulty machine, leaving the four people injured.

The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where on-duty doctor declared Delwar and Sohag dead.

DMCH police outpost assistant Sub-Inspector (SI) Sentu Chandra Das confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Kadamtali Thana Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam said those two people are supposed to have died after being hit by iron plate not being sustained burns in the explosion.
