DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) said that eighteen mobile courts will be deployed from April 10 to monitor upcoming in Dhaka and Chittagong city corporation elections.
EC secretary Sirajul Islam informed the media on Monday noon.
He said that the mobile courts will monitor whether the electoral code of conduct is being breached.
Earlier on Sunday, a mobile court fined a candidate, who came to submit nomination paper riding on a horse-cart.
According to Sirajul Islam, the returning officers, assistant returning officers and executive magistrates are in the field to monitor the election codes.
Moreover, 18 mobile courts will operate in three metropolitans, two in Dhaka and one in Chittagong, he added.
The EC secretary urged the contenders to follow the codes so that city dwellers can cast their vote in a festive mood.
However, the Dhaka North City Corporation, Dhaka South City Corporation and Chittagong City Corporation elections will be held on April 28.
