DHAKA: Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader categorically said that there is no uncertainty regarding the construction of ‘elevator expressway’.
The construction work of the project will begin in June as the pre-assessment work is expected to complete in April, the minister added.
Quader made the assertion at a workshop held at Setu Bhaban in city’s Banani area on Wednesday noon.
Over 22-acre land has been marked in three phases for the project, he added.
He further said that the government has already compensated Tk 135-crore for land acquisition for the project.
According to the minister, the expressway will be stretched from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Kuril, Banani, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Moghbazar, Kamlapur, Saidabad, Jatrabari and Kutubkhali on Dhaka-Chittagong highway costing Tk 8,940-crore.
Bridges secretary Khandakar Anwar Islam and bridge project director Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, among others, were present at the workshop.
