NARAYANGANJ: Abul Bashar, an assistant of gruesome seven-murder case’s main accused Nur Hossain, on Wednesday admitted his involvement in the crime.
He, also an assistant publicity secretary of Siddhirganj Thana unit of ruling Awami League, gave confessional statement in front of Narayanganj senior judicial magistrate Chandni Rupom under the section 164.
Investigation Officer (IO) of the case and also Narayanganj DB officer-in-charge (OC) Mamunur Rashid Mandal told banglanews that Abul Bashar gave sensational information about the seven-murder and Nur Hossain’s involvement with the incident.
Earlier on March 27 of 2015, DB police arrested Abul Bashar from South Golakandail area of Rupganj. Later, police took him on a 7-day remand.
However, on April 27 of 2014, Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his driver and three associates, and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver were abducted separately from Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road.
On April 30, police recovered six bodies and on March 1 another body from river Shitalakhya.
Two cases were filed in this regard naming Siddhirganj Thana Awami League president Nur Hossain, also Narayanganj City Corporation councilor, as the main accused.
So far 31 accused, including 17 RAB personnel, were arrested in the two cases.
Of the arrestees, 19 including three RAB officials, gave confessional statement under the section 164 and 16 gave depositions in the court.
