GAZIPUR: Rail communications of Dhaka with Chittagong and Sylhet have been restored after a five-hour halt due to derailment of a compartment of a goods-laden train in Arikhola area under Kaliganj Upazila early Monday.

Norsingdi GRP outpost Sub-Inspector M Arefin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said a bogie of the freight train derailed in the area around 2:15am that halted rail services on Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet routes.

Later, a rescue train rushed to the spot and resumed the rail communication around 7:00am.
