DHAKA: Police arrested three members of a dacoit gang conducting drives in Chakbazar, Mohammadpur and Kamrangichar area in city.

The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Jamal Khan alias Mamun (28), Mohammad Siraj (30) and Sonia Akhtar Nishi (28).

Hazaribagh Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Kazi Mainul Islam led the derive on Tuesday evening and recovered 2 machetes, one toy pistol, 2 sets of cell phones and Tk 10,000 cash from the possession of the arrestees.

Mainul Islam told banglanews that earlier on February 2, a group of dacoits attacked the house of Dr Pradip Kumar Das in city’s West Dhanmondi area and snatched gold jewelry and materials of Tk over 3 lakh and 77 thousands.

A case of dacoity was filed with Hazaribagh Thana following the incident.

Police arrested the dacoits during investigation of the case.

The OC said that the arrestees confessed their involvement in dacoity during primary interrogation.

Besides Dhanmondi, they had been robbing in different parts of the city including Hazaribagh and Kamrangichar.
