TANGAIL: Five people were killed and eight others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Charpara Bypass area under Mirzapur Upazila of the district early Sunday.

Both the deceased and the injured could not be identified.

Police sources said that the accident took place when a Naogaon-bound passenger bus of Dipjal Paribahan hit a standing sand-laden truck in the area arounf 4:45am, leaving three killed on the spot and 10 others injured.

The injured were rushed to the Upazila Health Complex. Two of them succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital.

Gorail Highway Thana Officer-In-Charge Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter to banglanews.
