DHAKA: At least four people, including two women, were killed as thunderbolts struck them at different places in Kishoreganj and Moulvibazar districts Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Ratan Miah, 25, and Monjil Miah, 23, sons of Siraj Miah of Sakuya village under Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj Dulu Bibi, 53, and her daughter-in-law Suifa Bibi, 38, of West Hazipur village under Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar.

Banglanews Kishoreganj correspondent reports: Two brothers died by a lightning strike in Shimulbagh Haor area under Itna Upazila of the district around 6:00am.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Itna Thana Abdul Malek said the siblings were killed as thunderbolt struck them on their way to cut paddy.

However, police recovered the bodies and handed over to their family members.

Moreover, our Moulvibazar correspondent said two women were killed by lightning at West Hazipur village under Kulaura Upazila around 7:30am.

A local, Joynal Abedin, said the woman and daughter-in-law were killed being attacked by thunderbolt at their house in the area.

Hazipur Unior Parishad (UP) chairman Mahmud Ali confirmed the matter to banglanews.
