DHAKA:  Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Wednesday fixed April 28 for hearing the appeals of death row convicts Jamaat leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.

Four-member bench, led by Chief Justice SK Sinha passed the order in the morning in response to separate time petition of defense.

Senior lawyer Khandaker Mahbub Hossain stood for Mojaheed and Salauddin while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam moved for the state.

On ground of lawyer’s illness, six-week time was sought in the Mojaheed case while eight-week time was sought for preparation in Salauddin case.  

International Crimes Tribunal awarded death sentence to Mojaheed on July 17, 2013 while Salauddin got death sentence on October 1 in the same year. 

Later, Mojaheed appealed against the verdict on August 11 while Salauddin filed the appeal seeking acquittal from the charges on October 29, 2013.
